Heki gray scatter material for covering terrain, 85 grams in the package. For stony ground, cinders, dusty areas and the edges of roads.
Responsibility details are not available.
Scatter is a fine granulate which turns bare painted terrain into a surface. Paint on its own stays flat, whereas a sprinkled layer scatters the light and the terrain suddenly looks like ground rather than a painted board. The package weighs 85 grams, which at an ordinary thin layer will cover a decent piece of a scene.
Gray aims at areas without vegetation: stony ground, cinders by the track, ashy deposits, trodden and rutted strips, the edges of roads and waste ground around buildings. It goes well with darker shades, because in shade it reads as damper soil. Scattering gray sparingly into a grassy area is rewarding too, where it will suggest thin growth and trodden paths.
First coat the area with thinned PVA glue, sift the scatter onto it through a sieve and press it down lightly so that it settles. Sprinkle it in smaller sections, so that the glue does not dry before you get to it. The material can also be sprinkled on dry and only then soaked with thinned glue with a drop of dish soap, applied drop by drop so that the layer is not washed away. Once dry, sweep the excess away with a soft brush or vacuum it carefully through a stocking and use it again. Never make the transitions between shades sharp; blend them over a width of several millimeters.
The package holds 85 grams of scatter material in a gray shade. The glue, the terrain surface and other scenic materials are not included, unless stated otherwise.
