Decorative sand from the Heki company in a silver shade, a 250 g package. For loose-material areas on a diorama and in model scenery.
Responsibility details are not available.
A fine loose material for areas where sand is to show on a model: roads and paths, banks, the areas between tracks, the surroundings of buildings or the bed of a body of water under a poured surface. According to the name this is decorative sand in a silver shade. The package holds 250 g, which on an ordinary diorama will do for several areas.
The easiest procedure is to coat the surface with glue for scatter materials and to sprinkle the sand into the damp layer, ideally through a sieve so that it spreads evenly. The second option is to sprinkle the sand on dry, work it into the shape you need with a brush and only then dribble thinned glue onto it, which wicks between the grains. Once dry, the excess is tapped off or carefully vacuumed. The particular procedure and any thinning of the glue are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
An area of loose material comes alive when it is not just one layer of one material. It is worth adding a little coarser scatter along the edges and letting pieces show through between growth as well. Once dry, the area can be toned with heavily thinned paint or a glaze, which evens out the differences in color and creates traces of water and use. Apply the glaze sparingly, otherwise the grains will run together into a uniform crust.
For builders of dioramas, display-case bases and layouts who compose terrain from several loose materials and want a fine grain at hand for small areas. The glue, the surface and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
