Rock foil replaces the slow modeling of a stone face piece by piece. The sheet carries the raised relief of rock, which only has to be fitted to the shape of the surface and painted. It suits rock faces, cuttings, the banks of watercourses, retaining slopes and the area around tunnel portals, where a continuous area has to be covered without visible repeating patterns.
The package holds one sheet measuring 80 x 35 centimeters, that is a fairly large continuous area. That is exactly its main advantage: a large piece lets you cover a whole face with one part and avoid joints. Once it has been formed and any edges overlapped, the foil will cover a somewhat smaller area than its flat size suggests, which is worth allowing for when planning.
Trim the foil with scissors or a sharp blade and lay it on the prepared surface so that the beds of rock are horizontal. Run the edges along cracks in the relief, where they are not conspicuous. For painting, use thin coats: a paler base overall, after drying a darker glaze into the crevices and finally picking the edges out with a dry brush. A saturated uniform coat, by contrast, will suppress the relief. The way it is fixed to a surface follows the manufacturer's instructions.
The foil will serve builders of dioramas and layouts who need to cover a large area of rock in a short time. Working with it calls for no experience of modeling terrain; the result is determined mainly by the painting.
The sheet of foil alone is supplied. The paints, the glue and a backing structure are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
