A sheet of road surface with Roman-style stone paving measuring 48 x 24 cm for H0 scale. Intended for the streets and squares of older houses.
Responsibility details are not available.
A paved street is a different building task from asphalt. It has no uniform surface but a pattern that repeats and yet matches nowhere, and it is precisely this pattern that gives a scene its age. This sheet from the Heki company carries a ready-made surface of Roman-style stone paving in H0 scale, so laying individual stones and scribing joints into filler are both done away with.
The sheet measures 48 x 24 cm, that is roughly 1150 square centimeters. In H0 scale, which corresponds to a ratio of 1:87, the longer side stands for just under 42 meters of real length and the shorter one for about 21 meters. That is enough for a whole street running between houses or for a smaller square including the turnings into side lanes.
Lay the area out dry before you start fixing anything in place, and run the joint of two pieces where a curb, a track or the shadow of a house will cover it later. Fix it to the base according to the manufacturer's instructions. Do not leave the paving in a single tone: bring out the joints with a thin dark paint or with a pigment, pick out a few stones in a warmer or a cooler shade, and in the wheel tracks lighten and smooth the surface a little instead.
The sheet will be used by builders of layouts and dioramas in H0 scale who are building the historic core of a town, a farmyard or an old factory street. It also serves as a base for a separate display-case scene with vehicles. The buildings, model vehicles, the paints and the glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
