A pair of construction boards with a raised relief of a vault, each measuring 28 x 14 cm, for H0 and TT scales.
Responsibility details are not available.
A vaulted ceiling is a detail that is either done properly on a model or is better not shown at all. The eye tells at once whether the masonry follows the arch or whether a flat area has merely been stretched over the vault. These boards from the Heki company carry a raised relief of a vault, so you get an arch with a regular pattern of masonry ready-made.
The package holds two pieces, each measuring 28 x 14 cm. The boards are intended for H0 and TT scales, that is for the ratios 1:87 and 1:120. In H0 scale the longer side corresponds to roughly 24 meters of real length, in TT to just under 34 meters. Both boards can be used side by side for a longer stretch, or each on its own in a different place in the scene.
First try out dry in the scene how far into the vaulted space you can see, and line only this stretch. Run the joint of the two boards in a place where it will fall into shadow. Fix them to the base according to the manufacturer's instructions. A vault repays paint: let a dark tone settle in the joints and in the depth of the arch, while on the tops of the masonry closer to the mouth put a lighter touch. It is precisely this difference between the light at the entrance and the dark inside that gives the space depth.
The boards will be appreciated by builders of layouts and dioramas in H0 and TT scale who are building a vaulted passage, an underpass, a cellar or the inside of a bridge arch. The paints, the glue and other building material are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
