1:72 Airfield technical drawer, a sand box, a box for supplies

Airfield equipment in 1:72 scale

A set in 1:72 scale contains, according to the name, three pieces of airfield equipment: a technical cabinet, a sand box and a box for supplies. These are the things that stood at every stand on a real airfield surface, and in a model scene they do exactly what they should: they fill the empty space around the aircraft and give it scale. Without them even a well-built model looks as if it were displayed in a vacuum.

What the set contains

Three separate pieces of equipment, each of a different shape. A sand box belongs to the equipment airfields used to have at hand in case of fire or of a leak of operating fluids, a box for supplies served material and tools, and a cabinet served the technical service. The form of the individual parts, their dimensions and the material are given in the manufacturer's description and photograph.

Building and painting tips

• cut excess material and traces of manufacture off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder
• before painting, wash the parts and degrease them, or the paint will not hold
• glue with super glue, as cement for polystyrene does not prove itself here
• wear stands out on boxes, that is a scuffed edge, a dusty bottom and a lighter lid
• set them out irregularly, by a wall or by a stand, not in a row in the middle of the surface

Who the set is for

The set is for builders of aircraft in 1:72 scale who place a model in a diorama or on a display-case base, and for collectors of airfield scenes whose surface lacks small equipment. It will serve any period and any type of aircraft, because equipment of this kind changed only slowly at airfields. The model of the aircraft, a base, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
