The needle takes more punishment in an airbrush than anything else. It is enough to set the airbrush down tip first, to catch it on the edge of the desk or to push the needle forwards while cleaning, and a slightly bent tip begins to throw the line off to one side. Such a fault often cannot be seen by eye, yet it shows on the model at once. This replacement addresses exactly that case: the nozzle and the cap stay as they were.
Withdraw the needle, lay it on a flat surface and roll it slowly. A sound one rolls without wobble, a damaged one visibly rocks. The second test is quicker still: spray a short stroke onto paper. A deflected or sickle-shaped mark means the tip has taken a knock and cannot be straightened. If you are not sure, compare the mark with the stroke the airbrush used to give you; memory for the shape of a line is surprisingly reliable.
The manufacturer states this size exclusively for the Innovator and Profinish ranges. Before buying, check which fitting you currently have in the airbrush: finer and coarser needles are not interchangeable, and a nozzle of the same size always goes with the needle. The replacement itself is a matter of a minute: loosen the rear nut, withdraw the old part, slide the new one in gently and tighten the nut again.
