It is one of the largest ship models that can be obtained at all; in this scale even the small things of the flight deck, the galleries of anti-aircraft positions and the breakdown of the island stand out. The manufacturer is Trumpeter.
Enterprise was the second ship of the Yorktown class and the best known American aircraft carrier of the Second World War. She earned the nickname Big E by taking part in a substantial part of the Pacific campaign: she was at the raid on the Marshall Islands, at Midway, at the fighting for Guadalcanal, in the battle of the Eastern Solomons and at Santa Cruz. She was heavily damaged several times and each time returned to service. She ranks among the most decorated American ships of all. Efforts to preserve her as a museum after the war did not succeed and the ship was broken up.
With a model of this size it pays to work in units: first the hull and the hangar deck, then the flight deck and finally the island and the armament. Paint the flight deck before you fit anything small onto it, and mask it while painting the sides of the hull. American camouflage schemes of the war years changed over time, so choose a period in advance and keep to one period appearance. The anti-aircraft positions are clearly seen in this scale, so it pays to fill and clean them up. For the finished model reckon with a long display case and a firm base.
