An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary Trabant 601 in 1:24 scale from Revell, released as an anniversary edition for the 60th anniversary of the Trabi. The package is conceived as a gift set: besides the kit it also contains an accompanying book devoted to the history of the car. The model offers a finely subdivided body with faithful surface texture, a multi-part engine and rotating wheels. The enclosed decals allow various license plate options.
The Trabant 601 was the most widespread and best-known model of the Trabant range, built from the middle of the 1960s at the Sachsenring works in Zwickau. Over 2.8 million were produced and the car became a symbol of everyday mobility in East Germany (the GDR). It is characterized by its light body and its simple, tough construction, which won it cult status in Central and Eastern Europe.
It is a more demanding kit for more advanced modelers. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and sand the joints. Paint the multi-part engine and bring it out before closing it up; the faithful texture of the body comes out well after a base coat and a more matte varnish. The interior and the small chrome details will bring the overall period look to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
