The Citroën 2CV is one of the longest built European cars of all. It came about as a maximally simple and cheap car for the countryside, with an air-cooled flat twin, a soft suspension and a canvas roof. It was exactly its unassuming and flimsy character that made it a rewarding counterpart in the film to the luxury cars the agent appeared in at other times, and the chase in the yellow 2CV is among the best remembered scenes of the whole series. The model thus brings together two different audiences, collectors of French classics and fans of the films.
The 2CV is a simple car, but that very simplicity is treacherous: the large smooth surfaces of the fenders and the hood hide nothing. Spend time sanding the parting lines and spray over a primer in thin coats. A bold body color will visibly vary if the coats are laid on unevenly. The canvas roof and the simple interior take textured treatment and a gentle dry brush, which gives the surface a sense of material. Fit the window frames and the trim only once the paint is finished.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
