A gift package from the German brand Revell issued for the seventieth anniversary of the car. Besides the injected plastic kit itself in 1:24 scale it also holds the basic shades of the Aqua Color range, Contacta Professional Mini glue, brushes and illustrated instructions in several languages. The buyer thus gets everything needed in one box and does not have to buy the equipment separately.
The car came about in the middle of the 1950s as a closed version of a racing special, built around a tubular frame and an inline eight-cylinder engine. The body was closed by a pair of characteristic doors opening upward. Only a pair of these coupes was built, and one of them was used as his company car by the head of the testing department, after whom the type is nicknamed to this day. It ranks among the most valuable automobiles ever made.
The kit offers a multi-part engine and a faithfully rendered tubular frame, so it pays to go from the chassis and the power unit and to fit the body only at the end. The doors and the hood are movable, so do not fix them with glue while painting. A silvery body gives away every scratch, so sand the parting lines smooth and lay on a uniform base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and brushes are, according to the maker, part of this gift package.
