This extra is neither a photo-etched nor a resin set but a decal with a three-dimensional relief that is applied in the cockpit of a model of the Fiat CR.42 in the version for the Luftwaffe in 1:32 scale. It is applied just like an ordinary decal, only the result does not come across as flat; the instrument panel and the surrounding surfaces gain depth and legible details without your having to color them in laboriously with a brush. The target kit is the ICM one.

The Fiat CR.42 in the service of the Luftwaffe

The Fiat CR.42 Falco was an Italian fighter biplane that entered service at the close of the era when biplanes were already giving way to faster monoplanes. Even so it saw wide deployment and part of the machines ended up in German hands after 1943. The Luftwaffe used them mainly with night harassment ground-attack groups, where the slow and agile aircraft with its good takeoff qualities proved itself surprisingly well.

How to apply the decal

• First varnish the base with gloss varnish and let it cure.
• Carry the decal onto a damp surface, so that it can be moved.
• Do not use strong softeners, as the relief could collapse.
• Draw the surplus water off with a paper tissue without pressing.
