This is an accessory set, not a model of the aircraft. According to the name, the package contains underwing fuel tanks of two capacities, 275 and 335 gallons, that is larger bodies than in the two-hundred-gallon variant. The castings are resin and they are one piece, so filling the lengthwise joint, the most tiresome part of the work on plastic tanks, falls away.
The F-100 Super Sabre was a single-engine fighter aircraft with a swept wing, the first production machine of the US Air Force capable of supersonic speed in level flight. The F-100D version was a fighter bomber and the most numerous of the whole family. For long transits and combat tasks with a long reach the machines were routinely fitted with drop tanks, with several sizes in use and their combinations differing according to the task and the unit. The size of the tanks is therefore precisely the detail that on a model pins down a particular period configuration and sets it apart from a model with the standard stores.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc and sand the cut surface flat, best of all wet and with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is with super glue, as cement for plastic models does not work on resin. Apply a primer; on long smooth bodies it is the only way to spot scratches and bubbles in time. Paint the tanks separately from the model, because they often have a different shade or sheen from the fuselage, and fit them only once the paintwork and the decals are finished.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
