An injection-molded plastic kit of the German jet fighter Heinkel He 162 A-1 Salamander in 1:32 scale from Hobby 2000. It is a rebox: the injection-molded plastic comes from the Revell tooling, which Hobby 2000 issues in new packaging. The set is completed by 3D printed muzzles for the MK 108 cannon, quality decals (printed by Cartograf) and painting masks. The A-1 version differs from the later A-2 in its armament.
The Heinkel He 162 was a single-engine jet fighter developed at the very end of the Second World War under the program for a simple and cheap people's fighter. Characteristic features were the jet engine mounted above the fuselage behind the cockpit, wooden elements in the structure because of the shortage of metals, and an ejection seat for the pilot. The aircraft was created in an extremely short time and reached combat deployment only to a limited extent. It gained the Salamander nickname from the cover name of the production program.
Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and sand the seams of the fuselage and the engine nacelle carefully. Use the painting masks supplied for a clean separation of the canopy frames; separate and deburr the 3D printed cannon muzzles carefully before gluing. Apply a primer before painting, as late-war German camouflage comes out best with an airbrush and soft transitions between the colors. Apply the Cartograf decals over a gloss clear coat and seal them with a matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
