A set of aircraft weapons of Soviet and Russian origin intended for aircraft kits in 1:32 scale. It is neither an aircraft kit nor a finished product, but separate plastic parts that the modeler hangs on the pylons under the wings and the fuselage of a finished airframe. Trumpeter is a Chinese manufacturer of plastic kits and accessory sets, and its weapons range serves to let the builder put together a weapons fit to match a particular machine and its combat task.
Aircraft kits usually contain only as many stores as match the single variant in the box. A separate weapons set opens up further possibilities: the same airframe can be built in a configuration for air combat, for attacking ground targets or in a ferry fit. In 1:32 scale every store is large enough for the shape of the fins, the seeker head and the attachment lugs to be made out, so well-worked weapons noticeably raise the credibility of the finished model.
Cut the parts from the sprue with nippers and level off the remains of the gates with a file, so that the lengthwise seam closes accurately. It works well to paint the stores separately away from the model and to attach them only at the end, once the airframe is finished and varnished. The colored bands that distinguish live from practice munitions are best sprayed through a narrow mask of tape. Make the final joint with the pylon with a drop of cyanoacrylate, which holds on smooth varnish more reliably than cement for plastic.
