A gantry crane is one of those pieces of equipment no workshop can do without. The supporting frame spans the working area, a hoist travels along the crossbeam and the crew uses it to lift what human strength could not manage: an engine pulled out of a vehicle, a gearbox, a heavy axle or a crate of spare parts. A capacity of five tons matches exactly that kind of work. In a workshop scene the crane moreover plays one more role that a model needs: it gives the diorama a vertical dimension and explains why the vehicle is taken apart.
This is an injection-molded kit in 1:35 scale, that is parts to be assembled and painted. Besides the crane itself it brings additional equipment, the exact extent of which is given in the manufacturer's instructions. The set does not contain a vehicle or figures.
Assemble the structure on a flat surface and keep checking the right angles, otherwise the crane will stand crooked and it will show in the finished scene. Separate the thin sections from the sprue with nippers and clean the gate remains up with a file so that the section stays a crisp prism. Prime the steel structure first, then spray the color, and finally break it up: worn paint on the edges, rust marks under the joints and greasy smears where hands reach. It is exactly the wear that turns workshop equipment into a credible setting.
The set suits builders of dioramas and anyone who wants to place a vehicle model in the setting of a workshop or a repair unit.
The package contains the kit parts and the instructions. Paints, glue, figures and the vehicle model are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
