An injection-molded plastic kit of the German 60 cm anti-aircraft searchlight (Flakscheinwerfer 36) with the two-wheeled Sd.Ah.51 transport trailer in 1:35 scale from AFV Club. According to the manufacturer the package contains, besides the plastic parts, photo-etched brass, clear parts for the lens of the reflector and decals. It is an artillery and anti-aircraft accessory, not a fighting vehicle.
The 60 cm Flakscheinwerfer was a German anti-aircraft searchlight used during the Second World War to illuminate aerial targets for the night air defense. The powerful searchlight worked together with sound locators and later with radar and directed the fire of the anti-aircraft guns. For movement by road the searchlight was loaded onto the single-axle Sd.Ah.51 trailer, which allowed the whole set to be moved quickly between firing positions.
Work with liquid cement for plastic and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Fit the clear part of the reflector lens only at the end and protect it from fogging by glue and paint; the inside of the reflector is best rendered in a polished metallic shade. Apply primer before painting and spray with an airbrush. Give the trailer and the running parts dust and mud effects with washes and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
