A plastic kit of the American fighter P-47N-1RE Thunderbolt in 1:48 scale from the Advanced Kit range by MiniArt. The Advanced version adds to the plastic parts a detailed Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engine, a photo-etched fret (not pre-painted) and clear parts. The boxing does not contain painting masks, but it offers three color schemes with quality decals from the Cartograf printer.
The P-47N was the last and largest production version of the Thunderbolt. It was created for the long-range escort of bombers over the vast Pacific, and it therefore received a new, longer wing with square tips that took additional fuel to extend the range. It was at the same time the heaviest of all Thunderbolts. It kept the powerful R-2800 radial engine, the armament of eight .50 caliber machine guns and the distinctive bubble canopy.
The detailed R-2800 engine comes into its own with the cowling open - we recommend picking it out with metal shades and a subtle wash. The photo-etched fret is not pre-painted, so expect to color the small elements by hand. Because the boxing contains no masks, it pays to prepare your own masking tape for spraying the canopy cleanly. The Cartograf decals are thin and adhere well; apply them on a gloss base with a decal softener.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
