About product

1:35 Airspeed A.S.51 Horsa Glider Mk.I - Bronco plastic kit

An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Horsa assault glider in 1:35 scale from Bronco. Given the span and length of the real aircraft, this is a very large model. The box holds plastic sprues, a photo-etched fret and decals. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.

The real subject

The Airspeed A.S.51 Horsa was a British transport glider built during the Second World War to carry airborne troops and materiel. It served to deliver soldiers to the battlefield silently and was used in the large airborne landings. Its roomy fuselage took dozens of soldiers or light equipment, and the load was unloaded through the hinged nose section as well as through the rear doors.

Building and painting tips

Because of the size of the model, count on having enough space and a firm surface when gluing. Use liquid cement on the plastic and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. A primer and an airbrush are recommended; the large wing and fuselage surfaces call for careful masking of the invasion stripes and the camouflage schemes. The interior can be used to good effect in an open configuration.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of large models and dioramas in 1:35
  • Followers of Allied airborne equipment
  • Builders who will appreciate a sizable and unusual model
  • Anyone interested in the subject of airborne landings

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
