Both guns on the 39(H) chassis are served by the shared fret 1:35 German 39(H) 7.5/10.5 cm - Part 2. Intended for the Trumpeter kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This shared supplementary set covers the second stage of detailing for a pair of vehicles that stood on the same base: the captured French 39(H) chassis fitted either with a 7.5 cm anti-tank gun or with a 10.5 cm field howitzer. Because the two conversions differed mainly in their upper part, a single fret can be used for both. The target kit is Trumpeter.
The version with the leFH 18 howitzer came out of the same thinking as the anti-tank one: an available captured hull can carry a gun that would otherwise have to be towed. The open superstructure of flat plates gave the crew only minimal protection, but in exchange the vehicle could change firing position without being hitched up. These machines were concentrated with the artillery battalions of units stationed in the west and went into action in 1944. In design terms it was a simple solution built in small batches, so individual vehicles differed from one another in detail.
Decide in advance which of the two variants you are building, and leave the parts meant for the other one on the fret. The flat plates of the superstructure will take a small dent; you make one by pressing a blunt point in from the back over a soft surface. Paint the underside of the hull darker than the upper surfaces.
Add a plastic model and the usual modeling chemicals for the build.
