Small parts for the smallest German half-track vehicle: 1:35 Kettenkrad Sd. Kfz. 2 (dragon) refines a model of the Kettenkrad tracked motorcycle.

A small object forgives the least. With a vehicle that fits in the palm of your hand in 1:35 scale the viewer examines every part close up, and so it is exactly here that etched metal does the greatest service: thin fender rims, the radiator grille, clips and brackets. The set from Royal Model is complemented by cast parts. You will not find the machine itself in the box.
The Kettenkrad was created as a light tractor for airborne units; its dimensions were set so that it would fit into the cargo hold of a three-engined transport aircraft. At the front it had handlebars and a front wheel, at the rear a tracked running gear with wheels on torsion bars. The steering was ingenious: a slight turn of the handlebars turned only the front wheel, while a greater deflection braked one of the tracks. After airborne operations were given up it served mainly as a tractor for light weapons, as a tug for aircraft and for laying cable; after the war it was worked with in forests and fields.
Work over a light-colored mat with raised edges, because a part this size that flies off is hopeless to find on a carpet. Keep two sharp pairs of tweezers: one for holding, the other for fitting. Apply the glue transferred on the point of a wire, never straight from the bottle. Deal with the painting by subassembly before the final gluing, as with a shape this cramped you will not reach the lower surfaces later.
