Injection-molded plastic kit of the German Tiger II heavy tank with the so-called Henschel (production) turret in 1:35 scale from Meng. The parts are characteristically molded in red plastic, which recalls the red oxide primer of the real vehicles. The set contains photo-etched parts, above all for the screens over the engine compartment, and offers a well worked out running gear as well as external detail on the hull and the turret.
The Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger II, nicknamed King Tiger or Koenigstiger, was the heaviest German tank to see series service in World War II. It combined steeply sloped armor with a powerful long-barreled 88 mm gun that could destroy Allied tanks at long range. Most vehicles received the production turret of Henschel design with a simpler front shape, which replaced the earlier so-called Porsche turret. Its high weight and fuel consumption, however, limited its mobility and reliability.
First assemble and, if need be, paint the running gear and the lower hull before you close them with the upper parts. Glue the parts with a thin plastic model cement and attach the photo-etched screens with cyanoacrylate. Apply a primer before painting; spray the camouflage with an airbrush with soft transitions. A late-war look is helped by washes in the recesses and around the rivets and by pigments for mud and dust effects on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
