The injection-molded plastic kit MiniArt Soviet KMT-5M mine roller in 1:35 scale, an add-on device for tanks.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet mine clearing device KMT-5M from MiniArt. Note: this is not a whole tank but an add-on device, a mine roller that was mounted on the nose of a tank to force lanes through minefields. The set holds fine parts and metal chains. The device was intended for tanks of the T-54, T-55 and T-62 series. It is a suitable addition for building a mine clearing version of a tank or for a diorama.
The KMT-5M was a Soviet roller mine clearing system fixed to the nose of a tank. The heavy rollers ahead of the vehicle set off pressure mines with their weight and forced a safe lane for the advancing vehicles. A chain between the rollers helped against mines with a tilt-rod fuze. The system was among the widespread engineer equipment of armored units.
The device has no running gear of its own, so expect to mount it on the model of the tank it belongs to (the base tank is not part of this set, unless stated otherwise). Paint the rollers and the frame separately and weather them heavily; mine clearing equipment is typically dusty and muddy. Bring the metal chains out with a dark wash and a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
