A figure in 1:35 scale representing a legionnaire of the French Foreign Legion in Chad in 1990. Intended to be painted by the modeler and set into a diorama or placed with a model of a vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
The French Foreign Legion is the expeditionary component of the French army, joined by volunteers from all over the world and often deployed far from France. Central Africa has long been among the places it has operated, and it was African service that gave rise to the characteristic image of a legionnaire in light equipment for heat and dust. The figure is set in Chad in 1990.
A figure of a soldier in 1:35 scale, that is in the same scale as ordinary kits of military vehicles. It therefore fits a model of a vehicle as well as a diorama. The exact number of parts and the way to assemble it are described by the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut away surplus material with a sharp blade a short distance from the part and sand the area, so that it seats without a gap. Wash and degrease the figure before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on the smooth surface. A proven approach is a primer, then flat shades and finally shading and glazes, which bring out the folds of the cloth. Leave the face for last and work on it in good light, because it is exactly by the face that a figure is judged. A matte varnish will unify the finished work; only where leather or metal is intended does it pay to leave a hint of sheen.
For modelers who build post-war and modern military vehicles and want a human scale with them, and for collectors of figures to display on their own. Paints, glue and additional equipment are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
