An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M24 Chaffee light tank in 1:35 scale from Italeri. The package holds plastic parts, tracks and a decal sheet. The model captures the characteristic low and fast light tank with its 75 mm gun.
The M24 Chaffee was an American light tank taken into service in 1944 as a replacement for the aging M3/M5 Stuart tanks. It was armed with a 75 mm gun and a pair of machine guns; thanks to its pair of engines and its torsion bar suspension it reached a high speed and good mobility across country. It quickly took its place among the best light tanks of the Second World War and served in postwar conflicts too, from Korea to Indochina. The crew was usually four to five men, and thanks to its low silhouette and good mobility it was valued in the reconnaissance and support role.
First assemble the running gear and the road wheels and paint them, and only then finish the hull and the turret. Paint and weather the tracks before fitting them. For painting, use American olive drab; bring out the panel lines with a wash and apply mud and dust pigments to the running gear and the lower areas for realistic weathering. Fit the characteristic torsion bar running gear with its five road wheels carefully aligned, so that the model stands well on its base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
