A plastic kit of the American small tracked vehicle M29 Weasel in 1:35 scale. The model from Takom offers link-and-length tracks, decals for several versions and an included figure. The amphibious version had a sealed tub-shaped hull and rudders for swimming.
The M29 Weasel was a light tracked carrier developed during the Second World War for moving over rough ground: snow, mud and sand alike. Its wide tracks gave it low ground pressure. It was powered by a Studebaker gasoline engine, carried a crew of two as well as cargo, and proved itself in resupply, casualty evacuation and in arctic conditions. The amphibious version could handle inland waterways and the tidal zone.
This small vehicle rewards careful work on the running gear and weathering it before the hull is finished. The wide tracks and the underside get dirty quickly, so go for pronounced mud and pigments. Use the included figure to bring the scene to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
