1:35 M36B1 90mm GMC is a plastic kit of the American tank destroyer of the late Second World War from the Italian brand Italeri.
Responsibility details are not available.
The model captures the American self-propelled tank destroyer of the last year of the Second World War. The abbreviation GMC in the name stands for Gun Motor Carriage, that is a self-propelled gun carriage, and has nothing to do with the automobile marque of the same name. The scale of 1:35 is the most widespread one for ground vehicles.
The M36 type arose in answer to the need for a weapon that could deal with the armor of the heavy German tanks. It carried an open rotating turret with a ninety millimeter gun, which had already proved itself in the anti-aircraft role. The version with the B1 suffix differs from the basic one in its hull: instead of the hull of the M10A1 vehicle it uses the hull of the M4A3 Sherman medium tank, because hulls of the original type were in short supply. Only limited numbers were therefore built, and the machines went into the fighting in northwestern Europe from the end of 1944, among other places during the German offensive in the Ardennes.
On a self-propelled gun it pays to finish the running gear and the inside of the open turret before the hull is closed up. The fighting compartment stays open at the top, so the small details inside really are visible. Build the weathering up in stages: first dust shades on the lower areas, then streaking effects into the engraved panel lines and finally the highlighted edges.
The goods are supplied as loose parts without paint. Paints and glue have to be obtained separately, unless stated otherwise.
