A set of four unpainted figures in 1:35 scale from the Master Box series devoted to the Indian Wars. The figures are conceived as a single scene, a defensive circle facing outward.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set belongs to a series devoted to the Indian Wars, that is the clashes between the United States Army, settlers and the native inhabitants of North America in the nineteenth century. The name of the set refers to a defensive formation in which a group stands in a circle facing outward and the men cover each other's backs. The figures are therefore conceived as a single scene, not as four separate poses side by side.
The box contains four figures in 1:35 scale. They are supplied unpainted, on sprues. Cut the parts off with a sharp blade a little away from the figure, sand the remainder of the sprue gate and go over the mold seam around the figure as well; it is that seam that shows most after gluing. Dry-fit the arms, heads and equipment so that the poses sit right before the glue sets.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting, as paint holds worse on a greasy surface. A primer coat works well, followed by flat shades of clothing and skin and finally a darker glaze into the folds that brings out the shadows. Picking out the edges with a dry brush gives the figure depth. In 1:35 scale the face reads well, so the skin tone and the eyes deserve the most time.
The set suits a diorama from the American West as well as a standalone display scene. It will also serve to liven up a model of a vehicle or a building in the same scale, where the figures give the scene scale and action. The box contains only the figures, unless stated otherwise; a base, scenic accessories, paints and glue are not included.
