An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Panzerbefehlswagen III Ausf.J command tank with Schürzen side armor skirts in 1:35 scale from the Smart Kit line by Dragon. The kit contains skirts with a metallic appearance, photo-etched parts and one-piece flexible DS tracks; it faithfully captures the specific features of the command version.
The Panzerbefehlswagen III (command tank) was based on the chassis of the Panzer III Ausf.J. Unlike the older command versions, which had only a dummy gun, this version kept a fully functional gun and in addition carried more powerful radio sets for directing a unit. Its recognition features were an additional antenna and the Schürzen side skirts protecting the hull and the running gear against anti-tank rifles and shaped-charge ammunition.
Assemble and paint the running gear before fitting the Schürzen, which otherwise make access to the wheels harder. Spray the base with primer and the camouflage with an airbrush. Accentuate the engraving with a wash and the edges with dry brushing, and apply pigments to the lower hull. Build and paint the flexible tracks according to the instructions, and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
