An add-on set from the Upgrade Solution range for a model of the Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.J tank of late production in 1:35 scale. It refines the details of a finished kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.J is the last production version of the German medium tank that stayed in production throughout the Second World War. Production was simplified wherever possible: the auxiliary generator for traversing the turret by power was dropped, so the crew turned it by hand, and the space freed up took an extra fuel tank, thanks to which the vehicle covered a greater distance. Late production machines are recognized by the simplified details of the running gear and the suspension and by the side skirts, which protected the sides against rounds from hand-held anti-tank weapons.
Add-on parts that replace or refine parts of the base kit in 1:35 scale, so that the model matches the late production form. The extent of the set, the list of parts and the procedure for fitting them are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Before buying, check which kit the set is cut for, because add-on sets of this kind tend to be tied to a particular model.
Cut the excess material and the production marks off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: modeling cement for plastic on polystyrene, and cyanoacrylate glue on resin, printed and metal parts. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, or the paint will hold poorly on a greasy surface. Fit them dry and glue them only after a test, because add-on sets tend to have less tolerance than a kit itself. Paint the inner surfaces that will disappear after assembly beforehand.
The set is intended as an accessory to a kit. Paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
