The real subject

The Rheinbote was a German long-range rocket developed by the Rheinmetall-Borsig group at the close of the Second World War. It was a multi-stage solid-fuel rocket stabilized by fins, without a guidance system and with a fairly small warhead in relation to its overall weight. It was the only long-range ballistic missile that saw combat use during the war. It was launched from a mobile ramp on a trailer, which gave it a degree of mobility.

Building and painting tips

Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, and assemble the delicate lattice structure of the ramp and the fine photo-etched parts patiently and with regard to their fragility. Apply a primer and the paint with an airbrush; weathering will liven up the combination of metallic and camouflage shades on the body of the rocket. Bring out the engraving and the structural features with a wash and finish the dust and mud effects on the trailer and the ramp with pigments. The model is a rewarding subject for a diorama with a launch site.
