Responsibility details are not available.
A set of historical figures in 1:72 scale from the maker Red Box. It depicts foot fighters armed with a long pike in the dress of the 16th century. The figures are supplied on the sprue, unassembled and unpainted, and serve to populate dioramas or for tabletop games.
A pikeman is a foot soldier with a long shafted weapon held in both hands. In a scene this is a unit that works only in a close grouping: a single figure comes across as empty, whereas a block of shafts turned the same way is read by a viewer at once as a formation. This set therefore makes up the basic mass of a formation, while the artillery and mounted sets of the same line belong at the edges and in the background of a composition.
Separate the parts with nippers with a straight edge close to the figure and never break them off; with thin long shafts breaking off is the most frequent cause of cracking. Trim the remaining sprue nub with a sharp scalpel drawn along the surface of the part, not perpendicularly into it. Pikes tend to be bowed after transport; the shape is most easily straightened by dipping them in hot water and letting them cool in a fixed position. Only after straightening does it make sense to deal with gluing to a base and with painting.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
