About product

PANZER ART 1:35 Sd.Kfz. 184 Ferdinand – type A tracks

This is a resin set of individual track links for the Ferdinand heavy tank destroyer in the type A track version, in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle but replacement tracks that take the place of the tracks from the main kit and give the model a convincing look as well as realistic sag. The maker is the Polish brand PANZER ART.

The real subject

The Ferdinand (Sd.Kfz. 184) was a massive German heavy tank destroyer built on the chassis of Porsche's version of the Tiger and armed with a long 88 mm gun. It was used among other places in the Battle of Kursk in 1943. The wide tracks are among its most conspicuous features.

Building and painting tips

Wash the mold release residue off the parts, separate them from the casting blocks and clean them up. The links are glued one by one with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); until the glue has set, the run can be shaped with realistic sag. Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Give the track a primer and shade it with pigments and washes for the effect of worn steel and caked mud.

Who the set is for

  • modelers building the Ferdinand in 1:35 scale
  • more experienced builders who want realistic workable tracks
  • anyone after convincing running gear on heavy vehicles

The set holds resin tracks only; the model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.

FAQ

No, it is a stand-alone resin set of tracks; you have to own the Ferdinand model itself separately.

It is one of the two track versions that PANZER ART offers for the Ferdinand; they differ in the pattern of the links.

The links are separated from the casting blocks, cleaned up and glued one by one with super glue; the sag can be shaped before it sets.
