The Soviet BA-3 1:35 (Hobby Boss): an injection-molded plastic kit of the interwar Soviet armored car with a gun turret.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss captures the Soviet BA-3 heavy armored car of the 1930s. The parts are molded in brown plastic; the kit offers a detailed engine and suspension, a riveted shell hull with a separate turret and separate rubber tires that slip onto plastic rims. Photo-etched parts and decals are usually in the box.
The BA-3 was developed in the Soviet Union in the first half of the 1930s as a heavy armored car. Into a turret close to those of the light tanks of the day it received a 45 mm gun, which made it a heavily armed wheeled vehicle for its time. Only a limited number were built. An interesting feature was the add-on tracks that could be fitted over the rear pair of wheels, turning the car into an improvised half-track for better cross-country performance. The BA-3 became one of the more numerous Soviet armored cars of its day and a forerunner of later types.
First assemble and paint the engine, the suspension and the underside, and only then close the hull. Slip the rubber tires on and paint them separately. Spray the base coat with an airbrush in Soviet green, pick out the edges and lighten the surfaces. For weathering use a wash in the rivets and the recesses and earth pigments on the wheels and the underside for the dust and mud effects typical of field service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
