1:35 T-35 Heavy Tank 1938/1939 is a plastic model kit of the Soviet five-turret heavy tank in its late form with conical turrets, in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss.

An injection-molded kit of one of the most bizarre and at the same time most photogenic tanks of all time. It captures the late form of 1938 and 1939, which you can tell from the earlier machines by its conical turrets instead of cylindrical ones. The model is long, busy and full of detail: five turrets, a long running gear covered by side skirts and a richly equipped hull. In the display case it is a piece that every visitor stops to look at.
The T-35 was the only five-turret heavy tank ever to reach series production. In the main turret it carried a gun of 76.2 mm caliber, in two smaller turrets guns of 45 mm caliber, and the remaining turrets and ports were served by DT machine guns of 7.62 mm caliber. The idea of a land battleship looked impressive on parade, but in practice it ran aground: the enormous length, the poor mobility and the unreliable drivetrain meant that the vast majority of the machines were lost in 1941 to breakdowns and a lack of fuel, not in combat. That makes the model all the more valuable for a collector, because it is an icon of the interwar era.
Assemble the running gear and the side skirts dry and check that the vehicle sits level before you glue anything permanently. Paint the turrets separately and fit them at the very end, otherwise you cannot reach the hull between them. Spray the 4BO green in layers and lighten the upper surfaces, or the long silhouette will merge optically. Concentrate the washes and the pigments under the skirts and around the running gear, where the real vehicle held the most dirt.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
