An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-80BV main battle tank with explosive reactive armor from Zvezda in 1:35 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is a plastic kit meant to be glued and sprayed. For the exact contents of the box, meaning the number of parts, the decals and the type of track, follow the enclosed instructions and the markings on the box.
The T-80BV is the version of the T-80B tank fitted with first-generation explosive reactive armor (ERA). The characteristic brick-like blocks cover the turret and the front of the hull and markedly improve resistance to shaped-charge (HEAT) projectiles. The basis stays the same as on the T-80B: gas turbine propulsion, a 125 mm gun able to launch anti-tank guided missiles and an autoloader. It is precisely the dense covering of ERA that is the main visual difference from the smooth T-80B, so give it attention during the build as well as the painting.
With armored vehicles, finish the running gear and any interior before you close the hull. Glue the ERA blocks carefully and evenly so that they hold straight lines; their edges and gaps will then come out with a wash. Spray the base coat over a primer; for Soviet green, light lightening of the upper surfaces works well. Complete the weathering with pigments for dust and mud on the running gear and the lower hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
