The set brings scaled-down tow cables for heavy tanks in 1:35 scale. It replaces the plastic or rubber imitations that come with large kits and that look hard, straight and structureless on a finished model. Braided metal cable, by contrast, sags naturally and holds the shape you bend it into, and on the top of a hull that shows at first glance.
Royal Model is an Italian brand specializing in resin and photo-etched accessories for models of combat vehicles. It offers cables in several variants; this one is marked for heavy tanks, while other numbers in the line are aimed at lighter types. They differ in the diameter and length of the cable, so choose according to the real vehicle you are building.
Before cutting, wet the ends of the cable with a drop of super glue, which prevents the braided strands from fraying. Measure the length directly on the model, not from a drawing. The metal surface is smooth, so degrease it before painting and go over it with a thin coat of primer, otherwise the paint cracks in the bends. A cable looks convincing when it is dark and tarnished, with a hint of rust where it bends and a light rub of graphite pencil lead on the edges, where the metal would be polished in service.
This is an accessory for a model under construction. Paints and glue are not in the package.
