Washing on deck: 1:35 U.S. sailor who is washing - WWII shows an American sailor at his morning wash. A resin casting in 1:35, made by Royal Model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A single figure capturing a moment of personal hygiene on deck. Under the Royal Model brand it is made in Italy as a resin casting. It brings into a scene in 1:35 what the equipment alone will never show: the everyday life of a crew between two voyages.
Space on a ship was always scarce, so sailors often washed and shaved over a plain basin right on the open deck. Clothes laid aside, a bare back and a towel belonged to the picture of a warship just as much as the guns and the radar. A motif like that gives away at once that the scene does not capture a moment of combat but a quiet stretch of service somewhere far from the enemy.
The bare areas are the main task here. It pays to work from a darker base to lighter layers and to blur the transitions with several very thin glazes; sharp boundaries on the body look unnatural. Wet cloth and water can be suggested with gloss varnish applied spot by spot. Before any of that, though, get the mold grease off the casting, otherwise the paint will bead and start gathering into drops.
The casting is supplied unglued and unpainted. Modeling chemicals and the equipment of the scene are not supplied, unless stated otherwise.
