1:35 Ukrainian Main Battle Tank T-84 is a glue-together plastic kit of the Ukrainian main battle tank T-84 in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This glue-together plastic kit captures the Ukrainian main battle tank T-84, that is the basic version, not the later Oplot development branch. The model in 1:35 scale offers the typical silhouette of the Eastern tank school, that is a low hull, a flat turret and a long gun barrel completed with blocks of reactive armor. For collectors of modern equipment it is a rewarding subject, because Ukrainian tanks appear in the modeling world considerably less often than Russian ones.
The T-84 came about in the Kharkiv design school as a development of the T-80UD tank, which differs from the Russian eighties above all in its powerplant. Instead of a turbine it has a two-stroke diesel engine, thanks to which fuel consumption is lower and operation cheaper. The main weapon is a smoothbore gun of 125 mm caliber with an autoloader, complemented by machine gun armament and by the ability to launch guided missiles through the barrel. The protection consists of composite armor together with blocks of reactive armor on the turret and the front of the hull. The tank entered service with the Ukrainian army at the end of the 1990s and became the basis for further versions of Kharkiv production.
On a tank it pays to finish the running gear and the tracks first, because once the fenders are fitted the wheels are hard to reach. Glue the blocks of reactive armor carefully and level, according to the plan; any irregularity shows very clearly on the finished model. Lightening the upper surfaces, dark highlighting of the seams and dust with mud on the running gear will give the model depth.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
