An assembly of cockpit details for the Bristol Beaufighter Mk. X in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Beaufighter in the TF Mk. X version was among the toughest machines the British sent out over the sea. A torpedo was slung under its fuselage, rockets under its wings, and in the nose it had four twenty-millimeter cannons. The Hercules radial engines sounded so characteristic that the aircraft earned the nickname whispering death. It led attacks on German convoys off the Norwegian coast at low altitude, where a pilot's mistake ended in the water.
This is an assembly of several accessories sold together, whose common aim is the pilot's compartment. It combines a shaped casting with pre-printed instrument faces and fine metal parts, so the modeler does not have to buy three separate items.
Before gluing it in, it pays to try the parts dry, because every kit has its cockpit a little differently wide. Sanding the side walls down by a tenth of a millimeter is ordinary, quick work that saves an unpleasant surprise later when the fuselage is being closed.
The Beaufighter had its cockpit set far forward and the pilot sat in it alone, while the navigator worked his own glazed station at the rear. Anyone who wants the aircraft finished all the way has to think of the rear station separately, because this assembly is aimed at the front.
