A mask set from Omask intended for spraying the national insignia (the German crosses) on a model of the Fw 190 D-9 fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit and not a part of a model but an accessory for the painting stage: thanks to precisely cut masks you spray the crosses on the fuselage and wings directly in paint instead of using decals.
A sprayed insignia has no carrier film, so the glossy edges around a decal and the risk of silvering on a matte surface both disappear. The paint also follows the panel lines, riveting and surface texture — the insignia looks as if it really were sprayed onto metal rather than stuck on as paper. That is especially noticeable with the large crosses on the fuselage and wings, where decal film shows most. Sprayed insignia also take subsequent weathering and paint chipping better.
For modelers building the Fw 190 D-9 in 1:48 who want to raise the quality of the markings above the level of decals. Work with an airbrush and basic experience of masking are assumed, so this is equipment rather for the intermediate and advanced. The model, paints and clear coats are not included in the package.
The masks serve only for masking while painting. Paints and thinners may be flammable — work in a well-ventilated area and use respiratory protection. Contains small parts; not suitable for small children.
