An extensive upgrade set for models of the King Tiger in 1:35 scale refines the details of Rye Field Model kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is prepared for three kits of the heavy tank Tiger Ausf. B from Rye Field Model and replaces those components where injection-molded plastic departs most from the real subject. This concerns mainly the intake covers, the thin rims, the lifting eyes, the brackets and the small equipment of the hull. It is fitted in the course of the build, so go through the instructions before you glue the large assemblies together.
The German army put the heavy tank with the Henschel turret into action from the middle of 1944, and it became famous mainly in the Ardennes offensive. Thick frontal armor and a long weapon made it a difficult target, except that the high weight took its toll on the transmission, the consumption and getting through terrain. Most of the losses were not down to the enemy but to breakdowns and a lack of fuel, because of which the crews abandoned and destroyed the vehicles.
It pays off to proceed assembly by assembly: fit the parts on the hull first and only then close the superstructure up. Hold the thin components with tweezers and glue them drop by drop, so that they do not shift. Rid the whole model of grease before painting, otherwise the primer layer will not hold on a smooth surface.
The set serves as a supplement to a kit already bought; the tank itself is not in it.
