A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale with the period tail marking of the Luftwaffe of World War II, part number 48015. The manufacturer states five sizes, which correspond to real dimensions from 250 to 600 millimeters, so the sheet covers machines from a fighter to a twin-engine bomber. The maker is the Polish brand Techmod. These are supplementary markings, not a kit and not a model.
German military aircraft carried the tail marking from the middle of the thirties until the end of the war. Its size and placement changed over time: earlier machines had it across the vertical tail and the rudder, later ones only on the fin, and the white or black outlines changed as well. Most kits leave this marking out of their decal sheet or supply it split into parts, because showing the symbol is legally restricted in some countries. Supplementary sheets fill that gap and let the modeler finish the period appearance of the machine in a historically faithful way.
Large areas of this kind go onto a smooth gloss coat, and it pays to split them at the leading edge of the rudder so the decal does not bridge the moving surface. Leave the marking 20 to 30 seconds in lukewarm water and settle it onto a spot wetted with water. A setting solution will help draw the marking into the engraved lines and into the fabric pattern of the rudder. Finally, spray the sheet over with a protective coat.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The basic kit, paints and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
