Decals Xtradecal 1:48 for the Messerschmitt Me 262 in the A-1a, U3 and A-2a versions and for the postwar S-92. Markings for the first jet fighter to see service.
Responsibility details are not available.
The first jet fighter in the world to enter service in numbers is the subject of this 1:48 decal sheet issued by the British brand Xtradecal. Besides the German versions the markings also cover the S-92, that is the postwar Czechoslovak build of the same type. The model is bought separately.
The Me 262 was powered by two Junkers Jumo 004 turbojets in nacelles under the wing and its speed was beyond the reach of the piston fighters of the day. The A-1a version was a pure fighter with four thirty-millimeter cannons in the nose, the A-1a/U3 form carried cameras for reconnaissance instead of part of the armament, and the A-2a was adapted to carry bombs. Its service was held back by unreliable, short-lived engines, by a shortage of fuel and by the lack of trained pilots. After the war only a handful of single-seat machines designated S-92 were completed in Czechoslovakia from surviving parts and tooling; they flew with the local air arm at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s and acquired the nickname Turbina, meaning turbine.
The metal surfaces of a jet machine can be brought to life with shades of differing reflectivity, which break up a uniform finish. Before the markings, go over the model with gloss varnish and lay the film on a damp surface so that it can still be adjusted. Once it is dry, add traces of exhaust behind the engine nacelles.
