A detail set for a model of the Dassault Mirage IIIC fighter in 1:48 scale. It contains cockpit equipment and the landing gear bays, the two places where the quality of detail shows most on a finished model.

The Mirage IIIC was the first series-built fighter version of the French tailless Dassault Mirage III. The delta wing with no horizontal tail surfaces gave the aircraft its characteristic silhouette, and the aircraft became the basis of a whole large family of derived versions that served with many foreign operators.
The set brings two groups of parts. The first completes the cockpit, that is, the tub with its side consoles, the instrument panel, the seat and small controls. The second replaces the landing gear bays, where a kit usually offers only smooth walls with no runs and no structure. The parts are made for 1:48 scale; check the fit on your particular kit against the manufacturer's information.
The parts are not polystyrene, so bond them with super glue; liquid cement for plastic models will not hold on them. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand off the rest. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts, otherwise the paint may not take. Try the cockpit and the bays dry in the fuselage halves before gluing, because with aftermarket interiors the inner fuselage walls often have to be thinned or the seating reworked. It pays to paint before closing up the fuselage, while the parts are still visible; the exact way to prepare them is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The set suits modelers who want to build the Mirage IIIC with an open cockpit or with the landing gear down and do not want to scratch-build the detail themselves. Working with aftermarket parts assumes a steady hand at cutting and sanding.
The package contains only the parts described. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
