Eduard — Paint Mask Set for the Spitfire Mk.IXe, 1:48 (for Airfix kits) is a set of precisely cut, self-adhesive masks for the canopy glazing and wheels. It is not a model, but an aid for clean, fast masking before spraying.
Responsibility details are not available.
The mask set from Czech manufacturer Eduard is not a kit or an aircraft model — it is a modeling aid. It contains self-adhesive masks that are machine-cut precisely to the shapes of a specific kit: the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXe in 1:48 scale from manufacturer Airfix. The set covers the two most tedious masking spots: the canopy glazing and the landing gear wheels. The kit itself must be purchased separately.
The templates are cut from thin Japanese paper tape (so-called kabuki tape). It conforms well to the curve of the canopy, holds reliably during spraying, but also has gentle adhesion — once peeled off, it leaves no residue and doesn't lift dried paint. This combination of a precise cut and gentle adhesive is exactly why the masks are worthwhile even for an experienced modeler: cutting the canopy frames by hand with a knife is slow, and a single slip ruins the clear part.
For anyone building the Airfix Spitfire Mk.IXe in 1:48 scale who wants sharp transitions on the canopy frames without hours of manual work. Also suitable for beginners — it's one of the simplest ways to move a model up a class.
This is an accessory aid, not a kit. The model, paints, and glue are not included in the package.
