This product is not an aircraft model. It is a single precisely turned metal part with which you replace the plastic pitot tube on a finished Su-34 model in 1:48 scale. The manufacturer MASTER is a Polish brand specializing in turned brass barrels and small metal accessories for plastic models.
On the real aircraft the pitot tube is a thin, long and perfectly straight tube that senses dynamic pressure. Injection-molded plastic can never render that shape faithfully: the part tends to be tapered, to carry a mold parting line along its whole length and, above all, to be solid. The turned metal part has a real bore, keeps its alignment and stays straight along its whole length. It also stands up to handling; on a model that is taken off the shelf or travels to a competition, it is the part that breaks off first in plastic.
Cut the plastic part off as close to the skin as possible and sand the area flat. Drill a hole in the fuselage or the nose section exactly to the diameter of the shank of the metal part; drill dry, gradually and in small steps so that the hole does not run off to one side. Never glue metal with modeling cement for plastic, which has no effect on it; use thin super glue or slow-setting epoxy, which gives you time to align the probe on the axis. Degrease the brass with alcohol before painting and cover it with a primer intended for metal, otherwise the paint will come off under a fingernail. Fit the probe only after the paintwork and the decals are finished, when the model is no longer handled so much.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
