An injection-molded plastic model of the American high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft Lockheed U-2R Dragon Lady in the Senior Span version in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. It comes from a new mold and, thanks to the enormous span of the glider-like wings, it is a large model. The Senior Span configuration carries the characteristic antenna fairing for satellite data transmission on its spine. The set contains a detailed airframe, cockpit and landing gear and decals for several marking options.
The U-2 Dragon Lady is a single-seat high-altitude reconnaissance (spy) aircraft able to operate at extreme altitudes beyond the reach of most air defenses. It was created in the greatest secrecy and first flew in 1955; its photographs brought key intelligence as early as the Cold War. The U-2R version is an enlarged configuration with a longer range, and Senior Span adds a satellite data link for passing intelligence on in real time.
Given the size and the long wings this is a more demanding build - make sure the wing joints are firm and straight. Glue the parts with modeling cement for plastic and mask the cockpit glazing. The typical matte black finish of the Dragon Lady benefits from a good primer and an airbrush; even the matte surface out and bring the panels out only discreetly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
