A kit of the Vought F4U-4 Corsair in 1:48 scale, presented in the form of the Flying Bulls collection. It is therefore the machine as it looks today at air shows, not a wartime aircraft from a combat unit. For a builder that is a pleasant change: instead of worn paint and fuel stains, what matters is deep gloss and clean edges between the color areas.
The Corsair is one of the most recognizable aircraft of the Second World War. The inverted gull wing was not a whim but a consequence of the large propeller: thanks to the bend, the landing gear legs could stay short and the propeller kept its clearance from the deck. Power comes from a radial piston engine, and the late F4U-4 version received a four-blade propeller with it. The Flying Bulls are a collection of historic aircraft that keeps its Corsair in flying condition, so the real subject can still be seen in the air today.
An operating veteran will not tolerate a rushed surface: sand the joints carefully, even the areas out with a base and lay the finish down in thin coats. Handle the color divisions by masking rather than freehand with a brush. Apply wear sparingly, because worn paint and streaks do not suit a carefully maintained machine. Apply the decals to a glossy surface so that no silvering appears under the film.
For modelers who build aircraft in 1:48 scale and like civilian forms of historic machines. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
