Avia VR-3 / Fa 223 1:72 from AMP is a kit of the early transport helicopter, the licensed version of the German Focke-Achgelis Fa 223 Drache.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit in 1:72 scale represents the early transport helicopter with a pair of lifting rotors on outriggers, known as the Focke-Achgelis Fa 223 Drache and, in the postwar Czechoslovak license, as the Avia VR-3. It is a short-run kit whose injection-molded plastic is complemented by small resin parts, photo-etch and a masking template, along with decals and a clear part for the cabin. Because of the mix of materials and the fine parts the build is more demanding and intended rather for experienced modelers.
The Fa 223 Drache was among the first usable transport helicopters in the world. It first flew freely at the beginning of the 1940s and, thanks to its pair of rotors on lattice outriggers, could carry bulky loads on an external sling. Only a few were built, and after the war a small licensed series was produced in Czechoslovakia under the designation Avia VR-3, which continued the original German design.
First wash the mold release residue off the resin parts and cut off the casting blocks, then glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Dry-fit and clean up the injection-molded parts. The slender lattice rotor outriggers call for care and for firm but discreet joints. Apply a base coat before painting, set the metal and fabric-covered surfaces apart and pick out the fine engraving with a light wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
